(Sent to confirmed subscribers at Best-Juicing.com. Unsubscribe options below.) (See the note below!) Dear romi, In the first two parts of this series, you discovered more about cruciferous veggies and why they can help with weight loss. (Don't worry if you missed the first 2 parts. We will make the series available as a free report.) Now we get to the really good stuff! Here are two of my favorite juice recipes with ingredients from the cruciferous vegetables list. Remember that these veggies can be quite potent, so always dilute the juice with a variety of other produce. If you have any ailment (particularly a thyroid, kidney or gallbladder problem) speak to your doctor first, before getting into juicing. The same applies if you are pregnant, are planning a pregnancy or want to give the juice to very young children. Also keep in mind that you will still need a healthy, balanced general nutrition plan and plenty of exercise to reach your weight loss goals. Juicing is just one of the tools you can use in the process. Lose-To-Win Juice 1 Small to medium beetroot 2 Medium red tomatoes 4 Carrots 2 Firm yellow pears 2 Red apples 4 Thick slices pineapple (wash before cutting) 4 Brussels sprouts 6 Broccoli florets 2 Arugula (rocket) leaves 4 Cauliflower florets Method: - Discard carrot greens, as these are toxic
- Discard beetroot greens (or see note below)
- Wash all the ingredients (wash pineapple before cutting)
- Trim beetroot ends and peel thinly. Cut into chunks
- Quarter tomatoes
- Trim carrot ends
- Quarter pears and apples. Don't peel, but discard seeds
- Peel pineapple slices, discarding rind. Cut slices into strips
- Bunch up arugula (rocket) before juicing
- Juice. For the best results, add arugula, broccoli and cauliflower with carrots and apples
(Remember: Beetroot greens can be quite potent. If you do choose to use them, try to get young greens and use only 2 or 3 leaves at a time). Servings: 3 to 4 Medium Body-Benefit Juice 2 Red tomatoes 2 Red apples 1 Cup blueberries 2 Oranges (never juice with skin!) 4 Arugula (rocket) leaves 4 White or purple cauliflower florets Wedge of purple (red) cabbage, according to taste 1/2 Medium cucumber Shredded coconut for added sweetness (optional) Method: - Wash the produce thoroughly
- Quarter tomatoes
- Quarter apples. Don't peel, but discard seeds
- Remove any stray stems or leaves from berries
- Peel oranges thinly, discarding skin. Leave as much of the white pith as possible, as this is nutrient-rich
- Roll arugula leaves into balls
- Cut cabbage to fit juicer's feeding chute
- Peel cucumber only if waxed. Try to buy organic and unwaxed, as the skin is rich in nutrients
- Juice, adding the arugula with the apples
- Stir in some shredded coconut if you wish
- Pour over crushed ice and enjoy!
Servings: 3 to 4 Medium If you need to increase the quantity of a juice recipe, it is easy to do this with water-rich cucumber! Additional benefits! The whole cruciferous family, but cabbage in particular, is also known for its soothing and healing effect on the digestive system. A healthy digestive tract is of crucial importance when it comes to your absorption of the vital nutrients mentioned in this series. By using juice recipes that include cruciferous veggies, you are likely to improve your body's ability to absorb nutrients optimally. In a sense, your juicer pre-digests the produce, so that your body can assimilate the nutrients with greater ease. Try this! You can further increase the absorption of nutrients by adding a small amount of healthy fat when having your juice. This can be done in a number of ways, such as by sprinkling some freshly ground flax seed, ground pumpkin seed or ground almonds over the juice, or by adding a bit of coconut. Alternatively you can try having a slice of avocado, a small piece of cheese or a celery stalk with peanut butter when enjoying your juice. Just remember that these add calories, so don't go overboard! Many folks struggle to eat lots of cruciferous vegetables daily. I hope these recipes will help you to easily increase your intake.
