In this email (Part 1 of 3), I will help you understand why it is crucial to juice cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale and cabbage. Yes, simply by adding these ingredients, you can give your juice recipes some serious additional fat-fighting clout! Why is this? No, it has to do with much more than the low sugar content of these veggies! You see, these days our environment is often polluted with a variety of toxins. Pollution has reached into the air we breathe, our water, our work place, the everyday products we use and even the foods we daily eat. We are all aware that these toxins threaten our health, but did you know that they may actually affect your metabolism and your ability to lose weight? Our environment exposes us to chemicals called xenoestrogens. These are what can be called a synthetic estrogen. Now, estrogen is a hormone that plays many roles in our bodies, including affecting the storage of fat. When we get xenoestrogens into our systems, they act as hormone disruptors and mimic the effect of our natural estrogen. The result is that our bodies can store even more fat than usual and that we may also find that it becomes way more difficult to lose weight! But don't despair! Your body isn't helpless in this exposure to xenoestrogens. If you increase your intake of the right nutrients, you can successfully counter the effects of these 'baddies'. This is where veggies such as broccoli come in. The cruciferous vegetables are rich sources of two particular substances that can help with weight loss, detoxification and your metabolism. Next time I will tell you more about these, plus give you a list of the vegetables you should keep in mind when juicing for weight loss!
