Apart from the vitamin C load, grapefruit and tangerines have specific phytochemicals that may help with burning fat, as well as with insulin resistance and blood sugar control. These include nobiletin and naringenin. The recipe below will also give you lots of potassium, which can help with water balance. The cucumber is another great one for reducing water retention and bloating. Mint leaves can help to improve digestion and to settle your stomach. Celery also helps to reduce food cravings. Fat-Burn Feast Juice 1/2 Medium cucumber 1/2 Grapefruit 1 Tangerine 1/2 Lime 3 to 4 Medium carrots 1/2 Medium beet 3 Ribs of celery Handful mint leaves Few sprigs of parsley Method 1. Discard carrot greens, as these can be toxic 2. Wash all your ingredients 3. Peel cucumber only if waxed, as the skin is very nutrient-rich 4. Peel grapefruit, tangerine and lime thinly, discarding peel. Retain as much white pith as you can. Segment as necessary 5. Trim carrot ends 6. Peel beet thinly, discarding skin and greens 7. Juice, adding parsley and mint with the carrots for best results 8. Pour over crushed ice and enjoy!
